Suggested Pond Liner and Heater for slider turtle
I live in Montana and have had a 4000 gallon garden pond for several years. I have a red eared slider turtle that we are building a pond for with some spare EPDM liner. I have laid out her pond size and her filtration: 100-175 gallon, small stream and falls, mech and bio filtration. My main concern is with my climate. Because our early and late season temps fluctuate so much, and I do not have a huge volume of water to buffer the water temp, I am looking for some sort of water heater. My main points are: outdoor use, turtle safe, and would like to set it to come on at 60-65 degrees. At the planning stages, I can accommodate a submerged heater, inline, or even an underliner (I would never risk trying a DIY one from a waterbed, but something like that would be awesome). Of course, expense, both purchase and operating, is a huge factor. Any suggestions?
