Protect Pond from Heron

I have a large outdoor pond (approx 45' x 15') and want to protect my turtles and koi and other fish from a greenback heron who has been raiding my ponds for years. Want to cover the pond with a large (2 to 3 inches) mesh nylon-type net. Can you help or provide other recommendations (e.g., impact sprinklers that are motion activated)?
